The Most Common Questions We’re Asked Before a Gear Manufacturing Project

Gear manufacturing is what we do, and over the course of our hundred-year-plus history, we’ve worked with small firms, enormous organizations, and everything in between. But every project we start, regardless of scale, starts with a simple conversation, so we can get to know our clients and they can get to know us.

These are some of the most common questions we get asked in that conversation:

1.       What are your capabilities? We have the equipment you’d expect a gear manufacturer to have, and probably some you wouldn’t.  We have the capacity to create spur gears, helical gears, internal gears, bevel gears, shafts, splines, and worm gears, as well as sprockets. If you’re interested in more specifics, check out our capabilities flyer.

2.       What services do you offer? Our bread and butter is gear cutting, which we can do from scratch or from a blank that you already have. We also offer precision machining, keyway cutting, reverse engineering, and gear box design and repair.

3.       How long have you been in business? We take pride in our long history; we’ve been around since 1914, and have stayed up-to-date with the latest industry standards for that entire period.

4.       What’s your turnaround time? Our turnaround time depends on several factors, including the size of the job, the complexity of the job, and what we currently have in queue. Contact us for more information.

5.       How much will it cost? Our prices are competitive with other gear manufacturing firms, but price depends on a number of variables, including the nature, size, and scope of the job.

Do you have a question you don’t see here? Or are you looking for more specifics? Reach out to us at Federal Gear today, and we’ll get back to you in 24 hours with all the information you need to make a decision.
